Indications and use
Sildenafil relaxes muscles and increases blood flow to specific areas of the body. Sildenafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence), and for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension. Sildenafil also can be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
Important Information
A small number of patients who lost their sight in one eye after sildenafil. This vision loss is called non arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). NAION causes a sudden loss of eyesight because blood flow is blocked from cable nerves. It is not clear at this time if the reasons for sildenafil NAION. NAION also occurs in patients who were not taking this medicine. People who have a higher chance of NAION include those who:
have cardiovascular disease;
more than 50 years;
have diabetes;
have high blood pressure;
have high cholesterol;
smoke; or
there are some eye problems.
Do not use sildenafil if you have a loss in your eyesight and seek medical assistance immediately. Do not take sildenafil if you use nitrate drugs for chest pain and heart. Nitrates are nitroglycerin (Nitrostat, Nitrolingual, Nitro-Dur, Nitro-Bid, Minitran, Deponit, Transderm - Nitro, etc.), isosorbide dinitrate (Dilatrate-SR, Isordil, Sorbitrate), and isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur, ISMO, Monoket) . Nitrates also in some recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate or nitrite ( "A"). Please go to a doctor or emergency medical care for any installation that lasts more than 4 hours. Sustained installation could result in damage to the penis. Refrain from further sexual activity and notify your doctor it you develop dizziness, nausea or angina (pain, tightness, discomfort, numbness or tingling in the chest, arms, neck or jaw) during sexual activity. Do not take sildenafil more than once a day.

have coronary artery disease;
have angina;

have a bleeding disorder;
have a stomach ulcer;
have pigmentary retinitis (inherited eye condition);
have a physical deformity of the penis Peyronie such as illness;
have conditions that can lead to a long and painful facilities, such as tumors of the bone marrow, sickle-cell anemia or leukemia; or
take another drug to treat impotence, as alprostadil (Caverject, Muse, Edex) or yohimbine (Yocon, Yodoxin, etc.).
You may not be able to take sildenafil, or you might be necessary to adjust the dosage or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions listed above. While sildenafil is not indicated for women, it is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that sildenafil would not be harmful to the unborn child. Sildenafil should not be taken for women. It is not known whether sildenafil moves in breast milk. Sildenafil should not be taken for women. If you are over 65, you may be more likely to experience side effects of sildenafil. Your doctor may prescribe a lower dose of the drug.
Dosage and Administration

Possible side effects
If you have the following serious side effects, stop taking sildenafil and seek emergency medical assistance or notify your doctor immediately:
allergic reactions (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling lips, language, or person; or honey);
chest pain or violation heartbeat;
tumors ankles or feet;
breath;
prolonged or severe dizziness;
a long (more than four), or painful erection; or
dizziness, nausea or angina (pain, tightness, discomfort, numbness or tingling in the chest, arms, neck or jaw).
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue taking sildenafil and talk to a doctor if you are in
flushing;
mild dizziness;
headache;
nasal congestion;
diarrhea;
temporary blue tint in vision or other vision deviations; or
or itchy rash.
Side effects other than those listed here could happen. Talk to your doctor about any side effects that seems unusual or that particularly bothersome.
Miss Dose
Sildenafil is used as necessary, so you are not likely to miss doses.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical care. Symptoms of overdose sildenafil unknown, but is likely to include chest pain, dizziness, violation heartbeat, tumors or legs and ankles.
Drug Interaction
Do not take sildenafil if you use nitrate drugs for chest pain and heart. Nitrates are nitroglycerin (Nitrostat, Nitrolingual, Nitro-Dur, Nitro-Bid, Minitran, Deponit, Transderm - Nitro, etc.), isosorbide dinitrate (Dilatrate-SR, Isordil, Sorbitrate), and isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur, ISMO, Monoket) . any other drugs used to treat impotence, as alprostadil (Caverject, Muse, Edex) or yohimbine (Yocon, Yodoxin, etc.);
drug antibiotic clarithromycin (Biaxin), erythromycin (E-Mycin, Eryc, Ery - Tab, and others), or troleandomycin (TAO);
antifungal medications, such as itraconazole (Sporanox) or ketoconazole (Nizoral);
HIV medicines amprenavir (Agenerase), delavirdine (Rescriptor), indinavir (Crixivan), nelfinavir (Viracept), ritonavir (Norvir), or saquinavir (Fortovase, Invirase);
cimetidine (Tagamet, Tagamet HB);
phenobarbital (Luminal);
carbamazepine (Tegretol), or phenytoin (Dilantin); or
rifampin (Rifadin, Rifamate), or rifabutin (Mycobutin).
You may not be able to take sildenafil, or you might be necessary to adjust the dosage or special monitoring during treatment if any of the above drugs. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with sildenafil or affect your condition. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any prescriptions or over-without prescription drugs, including herbal products.
Precaution
Do not take any other drugs used to treat impotence, as alprostadil (Caverject, Muse, Edex) or yohimbine (Yocon, Yodoxin, etc.), without prior discussion with the doctor. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice can interact with sildenafil. The interaction could lead to potentially negative effects. You should discuss the use of grapefruit and grapefruit juice with your doctor. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet, not talking to the doctor.
Custody
Store this medicine at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
